Russian Helicopters has begun a demonstration tour with the KA226T in the mountains of Kazakhstan. The tour kicked off in June over flat and mountainous terrain surrounding Öskemen, demonstrating the KA226T to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Interior Ministry, Health Min­istry, and other entities including commercial operators. During its 1st stop on the tour, the Aviation Division of East Kazakhstan Province requested a special flight in which the KA226T successfully hovered and landed at an altitude of 8200 ft MSL simulating an evacuation.

Japan's National Police Agency has ordered 4 new Eurocopter helicopters for its Prefectural Police. The 4 ships will be delivered throughout Japan, including an EC155 B1 in Hyogo, an AS365 N3+ in Hiroshima, one EC135 P2e in Osaka and another in Fukuoka. Deliveries of the 2 EC135s are planned for 2014 while the other 2 helicopters are expected to be delivered in 2015. The EC155 destined for Hyogo is the National Police Agency's 1st of this type.

Sikorsky has received type certification for the S76D from Mexico's civil aviation authority. The company previously announced a deal with Aeroservicios Especializados (ASESA) for the purchase of 6 S76Ds to serve in offshore oil transport missions. The first of these is scheduled to be delivered later
this year.

Bell has added an independent representative in Russia. HeliDrive, located at LED (Pulkovo, St Petersburg, Russia), joins Moscow-based Jet Transfer as Bell's 2nd representative in the region. Earlier this year, Bell announced it had delivered 8 aircraft into Russia, 5 of which were Bell 429s.

AgustaWestland has announced the 4th AW139 VIP to enter service in the UK and Ireland. The company says almost 40 AW139s have been sold throughout Europe configured for corporate transportation, including VIPs and government officials. The latest AgustaWestland helicop­ter destined for the UK is scheduled to be delivered to an undisclosed customer next year.

China's State Grid General Avi­ation Company (SGGAC) is adding EC­225s and AS350s to expand its business into aerial survey operations. A new agreement expands an existing multiyear relationship between SGGAC and Eurocopter, during which the Chinese operator set a 17,550-ft altitude record for helicopter-based power line support operations using an AS350 B3. The company also operates 2 AS350 B3e helicopters for power line activities. Eurocopter says it plans to deliver additional AS350 B3e helicopters to SGGAC later this year. They will be used for power line survey missions and transportation duties. The EC225 is set to be delivered in 2015 and will be used for multirole missions, including utility and emergency rescue.

Pylon Aviation has placed an order for 6 Eurocopter AS350s. Valued at $20 million, the order consists of 2 AS350 B3e and 4 AS350 B2 helicopters. The Chandler AZ-based company specializes in Eurocopters and offers aircraft sales, management and pilot services.

FlightSafety Intl's 1st AW139 Level D simulator has entered service at the company's Lafayette LA learning center. Citing the growing number of pilots in EMS, airborne law enforcement, offshore, firefighting and SAR operations, the company began its 1st initial pilot course in May. The simulator is equipped with Honeywell's Primus Epic avi­onics system configured for both single and dual-pilot operations, and features a 4-axis autopilot, GPS with WAAS, TCAS and EGPWS. The simulator is NVG qualified and features a 220° x 60° field of view glass mirror display.
