Airside FBO Operations in YEG (Edmonton AB, Canada) has become Signature's 2nd licensed location in Canada. The FBO had completed its transition to a full service Signature operation by mid-December. It consists of 4 new 20,000 sq ft hangars, a 9000 sq ft FBO facility, and more than 30,000 sq ft of office space.
Aviation Business Strategies Group (ABSG) has announced the sale of the Sittman Aircraft Company in HKS (Hawkins, Jackson MS) to All About Planes. ABSG facilitated the sale between the 2 companies, which included an FBO terminal building, fuel farm and aircraft hangars. All About Planes will lease the acquired FBO facilities to Aero Jackson, an existing FBO located on the field.
FBOs at ABE (Allentown PA), CGN (Köln–Bonn, Germany) and STT (St Thomas, US Virgin Islands) have joined the World Fuel Services Air Elite network. Lehigh Valley Aviation Services at ABE is Air Elite's first FBO owned and operated by a municipality, while St Thomas Jet Center is the first Caribbean FBO in the Air Elite network. Business Aviation Centre Cologne (BACC), which operates the GA terminal at CGN, is a subsidiary of Kurz Aviation Service Stuttgart.
World Fuel Services has launched a new global fuel brand for FBOs called Ascent. The brand offers its FBO partners access to programs for equipment leasing, credit card processing, a contract fuel card program, marketing assistance, personnel training solutions, liability insurance protection and access to the company's FlyBuys reward program. According to World Fuel Services, a national branding effort will commence this year as signs and fuel trucks begin to display the new Ascent logo.
Shell Aviation has added 4 new FBOs to its AeroClass rewards program. Joining the program are ProJet Aviation JYO (Leesburg VA), Hickory Regional Airport at HKY (Hickory NC), NorthEast Aviation Services at HWV (Brookhaven NY) and Western Flight at CRQ (Carlsbad CA). In addition, between Jan 1 and Mar 31, 2013, pilots are eligible for triple points at the following Shell locations—Landmark Aviation SDL, Glendale Aero Services GEU, Landmark Aviation IFP, Western Flight Services CRQ, Avantair Elite Services CMA, Epic Jet Center BFL, APP Jet Center HWD, Rabbit Aviation SQL, Sterling Aviation CCR, DVO Fuel Services DVO, McClellan Jet Center MCC, Bald Eagle Aviation O22, Hot Creek Aviation MMH, Northgate Aviation CIC, Air Shasta RDD, Hillside Aviation O85, Global Aviation HIO, Western Oregon Aviation RBG and AeroFlight Executive Services BFI.
Landmark Aviation has signed an agreement to acquire First Aviation Services at TEB. The deal, made in late December, is reported to be worth $100 million and includes prime real estate at one of the nation's most active business aviation airports. First Aviation is one of 5 FBOs on the field. It has 120,000 sq ft of hangar space, 480,000 sq ft of ramp space and a modern terminal facility. The purchase is Landmark Aviation's first major acquisition since The Carlyle Group reacquired it earlier this year.
Jet Aviation has agreed to sell its DUS (Düsseldorf, Germany) and ZRH (Zürich, Switzerland) MRO operations to Cessna Aircraft. Terms of the transaction are confidential, but the deal is expected to be complete by the end of Dec 2012. Jet Aviation will continue to own and operate its FBOs at DUS and ZRH.
Jet Aviation has also entered into purchase agreements to sell the operations to Textron subsidiaries in Germany and Switzerland who will acquire them on behalf of Cessna. When the deal is complete, all 180 Jet Aviation MRO employees at DUS and 126 workers at ZRH will become Cessna employees through the Textron subsidiaries.
According to Jet Aviation, it will continue to operate its existing FBO facilities at both locations. Services include providing flight handling, refueling, passenger and crew transportation, catering and hotel accommodations, and immigration and customs services.
