Signature Flight Support has opened its new ORD (O'Hare, Chicago IL) facility. The occasion was marked with a ceremony on Sep 19 attended by (L–R) Signature Regional VP Geoff Heck, Area Dir Mark Costa, Chicago Dept of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino, Signature COO Maria Sastre, Kraus-Manning Principal John Manning and Signature ORD Facility Gen Mgr Hank Mook. The FBO boasts a spacious lobby, conference room, crew lounge and VIP lounge as well as management offices and a ground support maintenance bay.
Universal Aviation UK inaugurated its fully renovated FBO at STN (Stansted, London, England) on Sep 18. The 10,700 sq ft facility includes all-new crew and passenger lounges, 2 client meeting rooms, a business center and videoconferencing facility, private screening areas, showers and changing rooms. Universal Weather and Aviation Chairman Greg Evans notes that Universal Aviation has had a presence at STN for 28 years. It is one of 11 Universal locations across Europe. The company's acquisition of Air Culinaire has also brought Universal 2 owned kitchens (in London and Paris) which provide inflight catering for clients. Aero Air has broken ground on a new 30,000 sq ft hangar at HIO (Hillsboro, Portland OR). The new hangar will compliment Aero Air's existing 75,000 sq ft facility, which houses a Class IV repair station, and will include 3000 sq ft of office space. The facility is scheduled for completion in November and will be used to expand the company's maintenance and hangar lease business.
The Carlyle Group is acquiring Landmark Aviation from GTCR and Platform Partners. The transaction is expected to close in 4Q2012 pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Landmark Aviation has 51 locations throughout the US, Canada and France. This announcement comes just 2 months after Camp Systems (also owned by GTCR) bought Avtrak in Jul 2012.
Perfect Aviation has moved to a new location at BQH (Biggin Hill, England). The new facility boasts additional hangar and office space as well as extra ramp parking for the 3-year-old aircraft charter and management operator. The company recently obtained EASA Part 145 approval and CAMO status and will begin performing all maintenance on its Learjet 45 fleet.
UVair Network has added 2 new FBOs. Through an alliance between EPIC and UVair Fuel Program, both Jet Source at CRQ (Carlsbad CA) and Jet Center Los Angeles at HHR (Hawthorne CA) have been added to the network, bringing the total
number of FBOs in UVair Network to 16.
Signature has appointed Sami Teittinen as CFO. Teittinen joined BBA Aviation ASIG group in 2002. As CFO for ASIG, he led the company through several acquisitions, finance department restructurings and infrastructure reinvestments. Teittinen is based at Signature's global headquarters in Orlando FL and reports to the company's president, Michael Scheeringa.
Jetscape is 10 years old. The FBO, based at FLL (Intl, Fort Lauderdale FL), commemorated the occasion at an employee event on Sep 18.
