Bell announced in mid-March that it has signed a contract with the Turkish National Police for the purchase of 15 Bell 429s with deliveries to begin in May 2013. The new aircraft will be used as multimission platforms flown across the full array of law enforcement missions from surveillance to air support of ground operations.

Enstrom and Isolair received Chinese certification for the Innovator II 3900-480 spray system on Mar 21. The lightweight system fits all Enstrom 480s and 480Bs, and can be installed or removed rapidly. Launch customer in China for the Isolair spray system was long-time Enstrom customer Wuhan Helicopters, which recently purchased a new 480B specifically for agricultural spraying.

Eurocopter and Indonesian Aerospace signed a contract on Apr 5 for the supply of 6 EC725s. To be received in 2014, Indonesian Aerospace will customize and deliver these combat search-and-rescue (CSAR) configured helicopters to the Indonesian Air Force from its facility in Bandung, West Java. The Indonesian Air Force selected the EC725—a multirole helicopter in the 11-ton class—in 2011 to meet its requirements for a CSAR-capable helicopter fleet.

AgustaWestland and fashion design house Karl Lagerfeld announced on Apr 10 their partnership for the design of VIP helicopter interiors and exteriors. The initial application will be for an exclusive AW139 VIP exterior/interior design. Karl Lagerfeld is entering this particular helicopter design sector for the first time.

MD Helicopters has released details of its new scout helicopter, the MD540F. An upgrade to the existing MD530F, the MD540F features a 6-bladed, fully articulated rotor system made up entirely of composite material and a more rugged landing skid built for heavier takeoff and landing weights. The aircraft will be equipped with a fully integrated digital glass cockpit. Information will also be projected directly onto the pilot's eyes using an advanced helmet display and tracking system (HDTS). The weapons system will include fixed forward-firing rockets and guns as well as laser-guided rockets and Hellfire missiles.

Russian Helicopters—a subsidiary of Russian defense industry state holding company Oboronprom—delivered a KA32-A11BC to Brazilian operator Helipark Taxi Aéreo on Mar 27. Acquisition of the KA32-A11BC multirole coaxial helicopter—a first for a Brazilian operator—is a pilot project as Helipark seeks to diversify its fleet.
