Gama Aviation has taken responsibility for all business aircraft handling at SHJ (Sharjah, UAE), effective Jan 23, with the creation of a brand new FBO. The news ratifies a committed ongoing relationship with Sharjah Dept of Civil Aviation (DCA) that aims to encourage and facilitate business aviation growth. Gama Aviation is providing a dedicated team to manage business aviation traffic 24/7, in a move that sees the company expand into FBO management for the first time in the Middle East/North Africa region. Business Jet Center (BJC) Oakland at OAK (Oakland CA) has become a Phillips 66 Aviation branded dealer, like its sister location at DAL (Love, Dallas TX). BJC has carried out extensive remodeling of the original 1927 terminal at an airport made famous by Charles Lindbergh, who dedicated the facility.

Hawthorne Global Aviation Services has acquired ISP (Islip NY)-based ExcelAire. A premier provider of GA services at ISP, Excel­Aire has a strong market share of fuel uplift, 20 large cabin aircraft under management through its Part 135 certificate, and several service center designations through its Part 145 repair station license. Haw­thorne is a GA services company founded in 1932 and headquartered in Charleston SC.

Fargo Jet Center (FJC) at FAR (Fargo ND) announced on Feb 14 that it has launched a private aircraft shuttle service giving travelers bound for western North Dakota "an efficient, economical and reliable option" in and out of the Bakken area. FJC VP Marketing Darren Hall says, "Travelers are now able to book an individual seat versus having to pay for the entire aircraft." FJC's shuttle will include routine flights to DIK (Dickinson ND), ISN (Williston ND) and MOT (Minot ND) using a King Air C90 or B200 as demand warrants.

Platinum Flight Center at ATW (Appleton WI) has partnered with fuel supplier Avfuel to become part of the Avfuel-branded FBO network. According to Platinum Flight Center Ops Mgr Patrick Smith, "The initial installation was flawless, as is the ongoing support." Construction of a new relocated FBO and hangar complex is slated to begin in mid-2012.

ExecuJet Aviation Group reported an exceptionally busy period over Jan 25–29 supporting visiting jets whose VIP passengers were headed for the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. ZRH (Zürich, Switzerland)-based ExecuJet handled more than 300 private aviation movements during the event, the great majority of them being ultralong-range aircraft. Overflow parking was made available at LSMD (Dübendorf, Switzerland), a military airfield 5 nm north of Zürich. The facility proved ex­tremely popular, with ExecuJet handling more than twice the number of aircraft compared with last year.
