AZI (Al Bateen Exec, Abu Dhabi, UAE) has finished refurbishing 3 hangars. Works include structural, mechanical and floor renovations as well as upgraded back-office and workshop facilities. Phase 1 of the refurbishment program covers a total space of over 80,000 sq ft and represents an investment of $5 million.
Aero Toy Store opened its "Diamond Hangar" at STN (Stansted, London, England) in May. Marking the beginning of Aero Toy Store's "brand journey into Europe," the Diamond Hangar features the only VIP widebody facility in London and one of the largest FBOs in Europe. The 250,000 sq ft Diamond Hangar can accommodate a range of aircraft from private jets to Boeing 747s and Airbus A340s. A refurbishment will be completed prior to the London Olympics.
FAR (Fargo ND) announced on May 10 that it has broken ground on a new US Customs office designed to improve the experience for international arrivals. The new facility (shown in red) is being constructed on the north GA ramp between 2 of Fargo Jet Center's main hangars.
UVair FBO Network has announced its first 5 FBO members—Edwards Jet Center BIL (Billings MT), Stevens Aviation GSP (Greer SC), Ambassador Aviation RBD (Exec, Dallas TX), Bizjet Intl TUL (Intl, Tulsa OK) and Million Air YVR (Vancouver BC, Canada). UVair FBO Network is an alliance between EPIC Aviation and UVair Fuel Program. To qualify, an FBO must be located at a well-used corporate aviation airport in the US or Canada. It must also offer high-quality facilities, trained customer service staff and an exemplary safety record.
From Jul 1–Sep 30, flight department members and crew visiting UVair FBOs will receive double UVair or EPIC Card Bravo reward points per gallon on qualifying transactions. EPIC Senior VP Business Devt and Strategy Steve McCullough says, "The response [to UVair Network] has been incredible and these first members to commit are part of a list of over 20 FBOs that have already signed a letter of intent. We believe we are creating something the business aviation community wants to be a part of."
Banyan Air Service has completed equipping its ramp at FXE (Exec, Fort Lauderdale FL) with Wi-Fi to meet requirements for the Gulfstream G650 and G280. These aircraft, set to enter service this year, are equipped with new systems dependent on wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity. The G650 contains an aircraft health and trend monitoring system (AHTMS) known as PlaneConnect, and the G280 includes a system that allows for wireless database updates to the Rockwell Collins system through the Ascend portal.
