Ikhana has launched the DHC6 Twin Otter X2 "relife" program—a package of modifications and full maintenance services for time-expired aircraft. As part of the package, the company uses its wing box and remanufactured fuselage STCs for the Twin Otter 100/200/300, which resets the airframe to zero time and establishes new structural life limits of 66,000 flight hours or 132,000 cycles—whichever comes first. Ikhana is based at F70 (Murrieta CA) and has engineering offices adjacent to VNY.

Training

FlightSafety Intl (FSI) has introduced a new customer care program. Under the new program, pilots and maintenance technicians who have trained through FSI are provided with ongoing access to the company's proficiency protection program, enabling them to maintain their skills even if they are between jobs. Furthermore, the program offers complimentary employment services and customer service webinars for pilots, flight attendants, technicians and schedulers. Pilots who qualify are also eligible to receive a complimentary life insurance policy.

Training for the G650 and G280 is now available through FSI. The company announced that its training programs for both aircraft are now under way, with 2 G650 simulators at FlightSafety's SAV center and a G280 simulator available at the company's DFW facility. All 3 simulators have received FAA and EASA certification.

Linda Jennings is celebrating 25 years with Beaver Lakes Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Walmart. Jennings began her career in aviation 34 years ago at Fields Aviation ROG (Rogers AR) at the age of 19. Eleven years later, in 1987, she joined the Walmart crew and has been the FBO general manager for the past 15 years. She recalls that, in her early days working for Walmart, company founder Sam Walton flew a Cessna 414. Much has changed at ROG since Jennings' first day on the job—but there has been one constant. "Mr Sam [Walton] always reminded us of the importance of taking care of our customers," she says. "We use the same approach at Beaver Lake Aviation as we do at Walmart stores—we're always striving for excellence with the goal of providing outstanding customer service every day." Jennings also serves as treasurer of the Northwest Arkansas chapter of Women in Aviation and is an ambassador for the Rogers/Lowell Chamber of Commerce.

Hightower's 2-year tenure at EAA had included significant restructuring and staff cuts. Replacing Hightower temporarily is retired Cessna Pres & CEO Jack Pelton, who was elected chairman of EAA a few days prior to the announcement regarding Hightower. The association says Pelton will guide it through the leadership transition.
