AgustaWestland North America has unveiled its AW139M entry for the US military market. AgustaWestland customized the military version of the multirole, off-the-shelf AW139 medium-twin helicopter for USAF's pending Common Vertical Lift Support Program (CVLSP). To be manufactured at the company's PNE (Northeast Philadelphia PA) facility, the AW139M includes high-definition FLIR, self protection equipment, including infrared detection and countermeasures, avionics and heavy duty landing gear. The AW139M features a low thermal and acoustic signature and is available with a full ice protection system. The AW139M CVLSP also includes dedicated equipment such as armored seats to improve crew protection, ballistically-tolerant, self-sealing fuel tanks, and an external stores system for carrying gun pods, missiles and air-to-ground rockets.

Eurocopter has inaugurated its new North Sea service center at ABZ (Aberdeen, Scotland), providing a training, technical support and logistics facility close to helicopter operators that support the region's oil and gas industry. A focal point of the service center is a new EC225 full-flight simulator. A long-term training agreement was signed with CHC Helicopter for at least 800 hrs of annual EC225 simulator utilization. The simulator at the Aberdeen center will host pilots from CHC operations worldwide. Eurocopter chose Aberdeen for the new facility because of its location at the heart of UK oil and gas exploration. As the hub of North Sea helicopter offshore operations, ABZ is Europe's busiest heliport.

Los Angeles Police Dept (LAPD) has selected Cobham's synthetic vision electronic flight instrument systems (EFIS) for its fleet of 19 Eurocopter and Bell helicopters. The LAPD rotorcraft will be retrofitted with Cobham's 2-screen EFIS, including PFD, MFD, GPS receiver, integral helicopter terrain awareness and warning system (HTAWS) and FMS. Cobham's EFIS is NVG-compatible and will integrate with the HeliSAS autopilot and stability augmentation system, certification for which is expected early this year.

Becker Avionics' DVCS6100 digital audio system has been selected by Mercy Flight of Buffalo NY for integration into its newly purchased Bell 429s and one of its existing BK117 EMS helicopters. The DVCS6100 manages all transceivers, receivers and audio warning sources in one central system and provides simulcast capabilities on 8 channels.
Mercy Flight is an independent, not-for-profit provider of emergency air medical transport and supporting services. Established in 1981, Mercy Flight provides service throughout western New York, northwestern Pennsylvania and southern Ontario.

Eurocopter will launch a new industrial facility in Querétaro, Mexico to support its global production network. Querétaro was selected because of its economic, geographic, educational and strategic position.
Eurocopter has been in Mexico for 30 years, with its activities managed by the company's Eurocopter de México subsidiary. Based at MEX (Benito Juárez, Mexico City), the company has nearly 200 employees. Eurocopter de México provides services for helicopters located in the region, along with sales and marketing support.
