|Eastern Aviation Fuels has announced the addition of Paulding Jet Center to the Shell network. Paulding Jet Center is a brand new full service FBO with terminal building located at PUJ (Paulding Northwest Atlanta GA). The FBO offers over 150,000 sq ft of concrete ramp space and is close to finishing its 25,000 sq ft of hangar space. PUJ has a 5500-ft concrete runway with ILS approach. FBO amenities include a pilot lounge offering weather, a sleep room, showers and free Wi-Fi. Rental courtesy cars, catering and limo service are available. The new terminal building also boasts meeting halls and a conference room available to customers. Paulding Jet Center offers Shell Jet A and Avgas.|
ExecuJet Australasia plans to expand its maintenance facility at MEB (Essendon, Melbourne VIC, Australia). The existing facility occupies a private hangar spanning over 29,000 sq ft. ExecuJet Australasia will add a further 8125 sq ft for an FBO, with integrated lounge area, offices, stores and maintenance workshops. Construction is planned for completion in August. Six additional staff will be hired beyond the 10 now at work there. The existing hangar accommodates 2 large and 2 midsize jets. ExecuJet's current maintenance facility is a FAA Part 145 repair station and holds a New Zealand CAA and an Australian CASA certificate of approval, which allow the company to work on a wide range of business jets, turboprops and light aircraft. ExecuJet MEB is also a Bombardier, Embraer and Gulfstream authorized service center.
Landmark Aviation has acquired the assets of Odyssey Aviation, expanding the company's presence in the Midwest and southeastern US. With locations at AVL (Asheville NC), CHS (Charleston SC), CMH (Columbus OH), LFT (Lafayette LA), LUK (Lunken, Cincinnati OH), MDW (Midway, Chicago IL) and NEW (Lakefront, New Orleans LA), the Odyssey acquisition complements Landmark's existing network and supports its growth strategy.
This acquisition expands the FBO network to 47 locations. Landmark Aviation Pres & CEO Dan Bucaro says, "We are committed to making improvements in these locations, as well as increasing business and being an active participant in the local communities." The company offers services that include FBO, MRO, charter and management. Landmark is a portfolio company of GTCR Golder Rauner and Platform Partners.
Last year was the best on record for fuel sales volume at Business Jet Center's OAK (Oakland CA) location, scoring a 28.12% increase in the amount of gallons sold over 2009. In addition, since its first full year of operation in 2004, the OAK facility reported January was the best month ever for fuel sales volume—up nearly 20% over January 2010. Several factors contributed to helping set the new records, including a greater share of market, expanded hangar facilities, an increase in base customers as well as an increase in transient traffic. David Mills, general mgr of the OAK facility, says, "We seem to be attracting more business travelers to this side of the Bay. Hopefully, we are experiencing a welcome return to the pre-2008 traffic at our facility." It also benefited from a military fueling contract awarded in April.
Atlantic Aviation has broken ground on its newest facility at OKC (Will Rogers, Oklahoma City OK). This facility will complement Atlantic's existing PWA (Wiley Post, Oklahoma City OK) FBO. Atlantic Aviation expects the new facility at OKC to be completed in 2011. It comprises a 28,000 sq ft corporate hangar and a 12,000 sq ft terminal building, including first class executive passenger amenities, a large pilot lounge and multiple conference rooms.
Atlantic Aviation has entered into a 30-year lease for 15 prime acres with The Oklahoma City Airport Trust. This acreage is located on the east side of the airfield adjacent to Runway 17L/35R.
Winner Aviation, a full service FBO/MRO facility at YNG (Youngstown OH), has been acquired by Rick Hale. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Winner Aviation was operated by Aero Services Intl until James Winner acquired the company in the mid-1990s. As president & CEO, Hale has managed Winner Aviation for 16 years. The company employs 63 and maintains 70,000 sq ft of hangar and working space at YNG.
Signature has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of Yellowstone Jetcenter, an FBO at BZN (Bozeman MT). Yellowstone Jetcenter will retain its brand name but will operate fully as a location within the Signature network, the company says. A 24/7 operation, Yellowstone Jetcenter has 7 hangars totaling 100,000 sq ft of heated area. Hangar heights allow aircraft as large as a Gulfstream V or Boeing BBJ. Yellowstone Jetcenter provides Jet A and Avgas and is an FAA certified repair station and a William Rolls factory authorized service center. Yellowstone Jetcenter General Mgr Kent Foster says, "Our exceptional personal service, which is ranked in the top 15 in the nation by pilots and customers, will now be coupled with the extensive network and resources of Signature Flight Support." He adds, "With the expansion of the terminal and arrival facilities at BZN, the addition of new carriers and increased direct flights from major market cities, our growth here attracted national attention. When Signature approached us about a possible acquisition, it was clear that the combination ... would be beneficial to everyone. Signature's arrival brings a marquee name in business aviation that will generate greater recognition and increased business for BZN and the state of Montana. This acquisition increases Signature's network of FBOs to 104 locations worldwide.
Million Air celebrated the grand opening of its newest FBO facility at YUM (Yuma AZ) at an event attended by more than 250 people. These included (above L–R) Yuma Mayor Al Krieger, YUM Ops Dir Greg Williams (partially hidden), Owner Chris Freeman and his wife Susan, Yuma County Airport Authority Pres Bill Gresser and Million Air Yuma General Mgr Manny Garibay. Million Air Yuma is located adjacent to the Defense Contractor Complex on the field. Freeman Holdings of Arizona, which owns the franchised FBO, invested approximately $2.2 million in construction of the 9600 sq ft facility. The investment included site improvements to the 8800 sq ft of hangar space and 1 million sq ft of ramp space, in addition to the purchase of service equipment. The Million Air facility has serviced Boeing's 787 Dreamliner and the 747-8 as they undergo hot weather testing at YUM.
