SaxonAir has secured a 10-year ground handling contract for all nonscheduled business, private and GA aircraft at NWI (Norwich, England). This development follows SaxonAir’s successful application for planning permission for a new $9.3-million business aviation center at NWI. The company’s ground handling division, SaxonAir Flight Support, has been providing service at NWI for the past 18 months. Joshua and Julie Hochberg, who head the South River Aviation management firm, are the new owners of Sonoma Jet Center (SJC) at STS (Santa Rosa CA). John Bridi will continue as general manager of the FBO together with all of SJC’s 14 full and part-time staff. The Hochbergs plan to expand the maintenance shop and invest in training all line service employees with NATA’s Safety 1st program.
Shell AeroClass has launched the AeroClass pilot loyalty program. Shell has signed up 100 US FBOs and nearly 1500 pilots. With fuel purchases at participating US FBOs, Shell AeroClass members can earn points redeemable toward MasterCard rewards cards.
Signature Munich can now help pilots with additional FBO services such as ground handling, fuel, catering, hotels and limousines at airports throughout Germany. Through a network of handling agreements with other FBOs and airport authorities at 12 German airports, Signature Munich will schedule these services for customers, arrange credit and billing and produce a single invoice for all services received during the customer’s stay in Germany. Some of the airports included in the program are HAJ (Hannover), HAM (Fuhlsbüttel, Hamburg), HHN (Hahn, Frankfurt), LEJ (Leipzig), STR (Stuttgart), SXF (Schönefeld, Berlin) and TXL (Tegel, Berlin). Other airports will be added in coming months.
Castle & Cooke Aviation VNY (Van Nuys CA) is now part of the Chevron and Hiller-branded FBO network. The FBO has more than 120,000 sq ft of office space and hangar facilities at VNY. Castle & Cooke recently hired Brian Woodruff as ops manager and Irene Magglos as customer service manager. CEO David Murdock has been operating at VNY since 1975 and built his first hangar at the airport in 1981. Based tenants at the FBO account for more than 60 aircraft.
Million Air SBD (San Bernardino CA) is the newest FBO in the Million Air chain. The FBO, owned by SBD Properties, opened for business in May and hosted a grand opening celebration on Aug 6. The 15-acre facility has a 14,000 sq ft, 2-story main terminal building and 60,000 sq ft of hangar space next to 14,000 sq ft of office space. On-site customs is available and a new 18,000 sq ft customs and immigration facility will open mid-2011. Amenities include executive conference rooms, theater rooms, a full-service pilot lounge with quiet relaxation rooms and BMW crew cars. SBD is located at the former Norton AFB, which has a 10,000-ft runway with ILS. Aircraft maintenance is also available.
X Jet APA (Centennial, Denver CO) has joined the Avfuel network, offering AVTRIP point awards to pilots on qualifying fuel purchases and Avfuel contract fuel pricing. X Jet is a full service FBO with concierge service for lodging, ground service, air travel and dining in the area. Amenities include climate-controlled hangar space, garage parking, maintenance facilities, meeting space and a pilot lounge.
