Elie Zelouf is retiring after more than 40 years with Jet Aviation at BSL (Basel, Switzerland). He began his career with the company when Carl Hirschmann-Jet Aviation's founder-bought Globe Air in 1967 when Zelouf was deputy technical director. Since then he has held several different positions at Jet Aviation. He also helped establish the company's FBO at BQH (Biggin Hill, England). In an advisory role, Zelouf will continue to assist operations at Jet Aviation BSL 2 days a week.
Teresa Yates has been appointed general mgr of TAC Air RDU. She joined TAC Air in 2007.
Former test pilot Hank Beaird died on Feb 2 in Dallas TX. In the business aircraft market Beaird made the first flights of the Learjet 23, 24 and 25 as well as the 1980s Lear Fan aircraft and the short-lived OMAC I turboprop. His flying career began in 1944 flying North American P51s and Douglas C47s for the US Army Air Force. Following his time in the service, Beaird went to work as an engineer for Chance Vought and later flew the first production Republic F105 Thunderchief. Paul Wiater, former dir of ops for FAA's Hangar 6 Flight Program, died on Jan 28. During his time with FAA, Wiater oversaw operations of the administration's flight department at DCA, which is responsible for transporting senior government officials. Prior to joining FAA, Wiater served with the US Air Force. During his career he amassed over 10,000 flight hrs.
