Million Air has added TUS (Intl, Tucson AZ) to its FBO chain. Completed at a cost of around $5 million, the new facility offers more than 54,000 sq ft of terminal with offices, conference rooms and hangar space. Covered vehicle parking is available, and 20,000 sq ft of the office space is being offered for lease. Million Air TUS also features a security system with surveillance and electronic access. Phillips 66 Aviation has signed 5 additional FBOs as branded fuel service providers. This takes the total number of FBOs pumping Phillips 66 jet fuel and avgas to more than 620. Butterfly Aviation at GLD (Goodland KS) has been serving the city since 1972. Otis Air Service, the sole FBO serving EAR (Kearney NE), features NATA Safety 1st trained and certified line technicians.
And Sapp Brothers Petroleum is now the Phillips 66 fuel marketer for Sioux Air, the FBO at 7K8 (South Sioux City NE). Meanwhile, in Illinois, Tate Aviation at MDH_(Murphysboro IL) and TDB Aviation at OLY (Olney IL) are now Phillips 66 Aviation dealers. Marketer Superior Fuels handles supplies for both FBOs.
TAC Air has purchased the JetDirect FBO at SUS (Spirit of St Louis MO). Under the new ownership, Phil Bissonnette will take over as managing dir of TAC Air's 13th FBO.
Air Culinaire and Morton's Restaurant Group have partnered to offer signature items from Morton's Steakhouse menu to private aviation clients and passengers for the first time. Effective immediately, aviation clients of Air Culinaire's Los Angeles CA, San Francisco CA, Denver CO, Washington DC, West Palm Beach FL, Chicago IL, Boston MA, Las Vegas NV, Long Island NY, New York NY, Dallas TX, Seattle WA markets will have the option of placing orders for Morton's menu items with Air Culinaire with a minimum 24-hr notice.
ExecuJet has added aircraft management operations at NTR (Intl, Monterrey del Norte, Mexico). The company's base at nearby MTY (Gral Escobedo, Monterrey del Norte, Mexico) will continue under Managing Dir Adrian Zambrano, who has been in charge of business in Mexico since 2002 and has overseen its growth since then. ExecuJet ops dir for Mexico is newly appointed Mark Hardman, who previously served with Bombardier Skyjet Intl in London, England.
Showalter at ORL (Exec, Orlando FL) has finished remodeling the interior of its 7-year-old terminal. Included in the $220,000 facelift are new lobby furniture, carpets, wallpaper and woodwork. The family-owned FBO, which recently celebrated 64 years in business, hosted the 2008 NBAA static display on its ramp and is already making extensive preparations for this year's event.
Oxfordjet at OXF (Kidlington, Oxford, England) has seen a steady increase in business aviation movements since the opening of its new $4-million facility last July. Highlights of its 6 months of operation have included visits from celebrities and VIPs, including Queen Elizabeth II and Slovenian President Danilo Turk. Hand-in-hand with developments on the passenger side, OXF has expanded its hangar facilities. Construction of a new 21,000 sq ft hangar is on schedule for completion this spring. Designated Hangar 11, it will be big enough to house an Airbus A318 or Embraer Lineage. OXF's existing 20,000 sq ft Hangar 1 was selected last year by PremiAir as the new home for its fixed-wing maintenance operation. PremiAir's hangar has been a_proved for EASA Part 145 for base maintenance and is now a center for Hawker Beechcraft MRO.
Skycharter has recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its FBO at YYZ (Pearson, Toronto ON, Canada). It now features an updated crew rest lounge with snooze room, flight planning room and washrooms. A new passenger lounge facility features a coffee bar and conference room. Also completed was a renovation of Skycharter's 40,000 sq ft triple-bay hangar.
PASSUR Aerospace has signed a contract with Odyssey Aviation to supply PASSUR FBO. Odyssey was formed in Dec 2008 as an independent FBO network. PASSUR FBO is a software suite that provides real-time flight, passenger and airspace status for line operations, marketing and customer service through visual flight tracking and Web dashboards. The program includes detailed marketing reports and analytics for FBO managers and marketing staff. It is based on the PASSUR proprietary database and powered by the PASSUR radar network, which is deployed worldwide.
Cleveland Jet Center is now offering Avfuel Jet A and 100LL at CGF (Cuyahoga County, Cleveland OH).
Bryan Burns has joined Signature Flight Support as general mgr overseeing both IAD and DCA. Mike Bennett will assume the assistant general mgr position at IAD and be responsible for day-to-day operation of the facility. Burns was the general mgr at Signature DCA from 1996-2000. He then became president of Vail Valley Jet Center at EGE (Eagle CO) and was most recently VP of Jackson Hole Aviation at JAC (Jackson WY).
