Fargo Jet Center has reopened its doors at FAR (Fargo ND) after extensive remodeling and expansion. Renovation work was carried out on the terminal, which now has an updated passenger lounge and office areas, and the workshop, which now includes a new paint booth. Fargo Jet Center Marketing Dir Darren Hall notes that FAR's location attracts large corporate jets flying the great circle route. He adds, "We're a convenient stopping point for flights going from California to Europe or from the east coast to Asia. We help them extend their leg a bit."

General Dynamics has purchased Jet Aviation in a deal valued at about $2.25 billion. General Dynamics VP Public Affairs Rob Doolittle says the acquisition broadens his company's service and parts network. He adds, "It expands our footprint around the world for support of our customers." As it owns Gulfstream, the company will be able to provide better support for its customers through the existing Jet Aviation network of service centers. While joining Midcoast Aviation as part of General Dynamics' new service group, Jet Aviation will retain its name and its existing sites, and will continue to service aircraft by other OEMs. According to Doolittle, Jet Aviation will keep its existing management under the leadership of CEO Peter Edwards, and has no plans to change the team.

Jet Aviation has opened an FBO at PEK (Beijing, China) with the help of Deer Air, China's largest operator of business aircraft. The facility will be able to handle more than 80 aircraft at a time while offering crew and passenger amenities and line maintenance for aircraft. It features full international customs clearance, security checks, metal detectors and baggage screening for crew and operations personnel. The terminal's entry into service coincided with the start of the Olympic games-6 months after the project was first announced.

Harbour Air at YVR (Vancouver BC, Canada) will provide MRO support for Eclipse 500 aircraft in Western Canada. Eclipse announced its selection of Harbour Air during EAA AirVenture 2008. Harbour Air will also act as the service center for the northwestern US until Eclipse's own service network is established. It will also have the opportunity to take on service work from other regions of Canada.

Castle & Cooke Aviation plans to open a new FBO at VNY (Van Nuys CA), expanding its existing presence at the airport. The company will rebuild the property after demolishing structures that formerly housed Jet Center's VNY operations. Castle & Cooke Pres David Murdock says he plans to continue pursuing his goal of turning the airport into a high-end airport to serve corporate aviation in the Los Angeles area. Plans for the facility include 50,000 sq ft dedicated to the FBO terminal, offices and shop space, and over 100,000 sq ft of hangar space.

Following the 51st annual Stanford St Jude Golf Championship, Wilson Air Center MEM (Intl, Memphis TN) donated $5728 of its fuel sales from the event to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

ExecuJet and Hawker Pacific have opened their latest FBO-SkyPark FBO Malaysia-in what was formerly Terminal 3 at SBZ (Subang, Malaysia). The Malaysian government leased SBZ to SkyPark Subang in order to redevelop the airport over a 3-year period. The project will involve the renovation of Terminal 3 into an international FBO center offering standard amenities, MRO facilities (to be built by ExecuJet and Hawker Pacific) and a shopping center for tourists. SkyPark FBO Malaysia will be an exclusive service and will include a bar, cigar lounge and luxury lounge. The Malaysian government is giving SkyPark FBO Malaysia US$91 million to assist in the development project and will expand a rail line to the FBO. Swiss-based corporate operator VistaJet has announced that it will base a Bombardier Challenger 605 and an 805 at the FBO. SBZ's runway and ramp are capable of accommodating aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 747.

Business Jet Center DAL (Love, Dallas TX) is adopting more environmentally friendly ground service equipment, and is replacing its gas-powered ramp vehicles with electric cars built by DaimlerChrysler subsidiary Global Electric Motor Car. It is also using a FOD Boss towed ramp sweeper to remove potential FOD debris from the tarmac. In the past, Business Jet Center personnel canvassed the ramp daily to find debris.

Signature Flight Support has acquired MES Handling in a move to establish a toehold in Germany. The MUC (Intl, Munich, Germany)-based FBO will maintain the same management team as under MES. Signature now has 22 FBOs throughout Europe.

Camden Aviation has purchased a Learjet 40XR for its operations at DPA (DuPage, Chicago IL). The West Chicago-based FBO has a mixed fleet of corporate aircraft ranging from a King Air to a Gulfstream.

Key Air has broken ground on a new FBO terminal and 2 MRO hangars at FPR (Fort Pierce FL). The company plans to finish construction of the terminal and hangars in Dec 2009. Key Air's property at FPR can accommodate up to 3 more 90,000 sq ft hangars. According to the company, the FPR facility mirrors its FBO at ANE (Anoka MN), which opened this August. FPR features a 6500-ft runway and has customs facilities.
