Million Air Toronto at YKZ (Buttonville, Toronto ON, Canada) is to undergo a major renovation due to be completed by the end of the year. The work, led by Toronto-based interior designer Peter Tillman, will add pilot lounges, a private theater and a 2nd floor that the FBO's management offices will occupy. The Prop Shop gift store and Druxy's deli will survive the renovations. Separately, Million Air Pres Derek Sifton addressed another issue surrounding his company, saying, "The rumors of our closing or sale are just that-rumors." Million Air has recently acquired a hangar for its SLC (Intl, Salt Lake City UT) FBO.
Key Air ANE is a welcoming addition in the Twin Cities
Offering courteous and professional service at Key Air Twin Cities at ANE (Anoka County, Minneapolis MN) are (L-R) Jenny Maleitzke, Natalie Kohlrusch and Customer Service Supervisor Jennifer Brantner. They greet passengers, pilots and crews as they pass through the new luxurious lounges, complete with plush furnishings, fireplace and large plasma screen television. Key Air Twin Cities is a full service FBO offering private conferencing areas and a business center as well as a 65,000 sq ft hangar.
Signature is expanding its operations after acquiring the sole supporter of FBO operations at LGW (Gatwick, London, England) for just over $8 million. Previously, the operation was owned by Southern Aero Services subsidiary Interflight Executive Aircraft Services. The acquisition expands Signature's presence in the London area, which already includes FBOs at both LHR (Heathrow, London) and LTN (Luton, London). The company has no current plans to expand to other area airports.
Banyan Air Services at FXE (Exec, Fort Lauderdale FL) is offering free information and help with flying in the Bahamas. Customer service representatives will aid in finding hotels and organizing US Customs clearance upon return. The FBO also rents life jackets and life rafts complete with survival kits.
Showalter FBO expects to host a full ramp for the 2008 NBAA convention, as it did when it hosted the convention's static display in 2006. This year the company is planning to support about 135 display aircraft while at the same time managing some 300 transient aircraft throughout the 3 days of the show.
JA Air Center is moving its operations from DPA (DuPage, Chicago IL) to ARR (Aurora IL) to become an FBO again. Five years ago, DPA authorities closed the company's fuel farm, and JA Jet Center lost its FBO title. The new location will not only have a fuel farm but will include 90,000 sq ft of hangar space, 60,000 sq ft of offices and an 11,000 sq ft terminal. Of the $10 million spent on the project at ARR, $5 million went to renovation of the hangars. The terminal boasts a 20,000 sq ft canopy for arrivals and departures. JA will offer aircraft sales and acquisitions, as well as charter operations, flight instruction, aircraft detailing and avionics sales.
Metal Innovations has acquired UAO (Aurora CO)-based Aurora Jet Center. The 12-year-old metal working company has also selected ExxonMobil Avitat brand fuel for its newly acquired FBO services.
Flightcraft has completed renovation of its EUG (Eugene OR) FBO. The new $1.5-million project doubled the size of the FBO, giving it an updated look, wireless Internet, a pilot lounge, flight planning center and conference rooms.
Projet Aviation has completed the 2nd phase of its FBO development at OKV (Winchester VA). It now has 40,000 sq ft of hangar space available at the airport. Since last year the charter service has been working to establish itself as an FBO at the airport with plans to offer fuel services soon as well. (See Pro Pilot, Dec 2007, p 44.)
FAA has certified Constant Aviation as a Class 4 rated repair station. Certification means that the repair station-a Nextant Aerospace-owned Embraer service center-can complete work on airframes over 12,500 lbs. According to the company, only 2% of repair stations are certified as Class 4, most of them owned by OEMs.
Cleveland Jet Center will open its doors in Oct 2008 at CGF (Cuyahoga County, Cleveland OH). The new FBO will offer a full range of services and will have 38,000 sq ft of office space including the FBO terminal, a 26,000 sq ft hangar and Enterprise rental cars. Fuel services will be supported by a partnership with AvFuel. When fully operational, Cleveland Jet Center will include a putting green. Office space on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the office and terminal building can be rented.
Big Sky Aviation will now be offering Avfuel branded gas at its FBOs at MIV (Millville NJ) and WWD (Wildwood NJ). As an introduction to the new service, Big Sky will be offering double Avtrip points for fuel purchases until Oct 22, 2008.
PremiAir will be moving into its new home at OXF (Kidlington, Oxford, England) in October. The company will be able to expand maintenance operations in the facility's 20,000 sq ft hangar. PremiAir will also act as a Hawker Beechcraft MRO service center. Delaware-based Corsair Aviation has purchased ACM Aviation at SJC (Intl, San Jose CA) from Atlantic Aviation subsidiary San Jose Jet Center. The deal closed on Sep 13.
