Turbomeca opens Monroe NC engine production lines
Turbomeca is expanding to a new $50-million factory in Monroe NC. The 100,000 sq ft facility will be used initially for production of the Arriel 1E2 turboshaft, but the company may also build other engines at the site. Production of the Arriel is in support of the US Army's Eurocopter UH72 Lakota program. The Monroe factory will be the company's first production site outside of France. Sagem expands Grand Prairie MRO facility
Sagem Avionics opened the doors of its expanded GPM (Grand Prairie TX) MRO facility on Sep 24. The expansion will allow Sagem to ramp up production of helicopter autopilot kits for the US Army's Eurocopter UH72 Lakota program and expand kit production for commercial helicopters. FAA and NBAA have selected Air Routing Intl (ARI) to provide input and feedback for the Traffic Flow Management Weather Programs office. The information ARI will supply is part of a new product called the Enhanced Convective Forecast, which will show all convective weather events over a 2 to 12-hr period. Diamond Aircraft's D-JET has made its first flight with the Williams Intl FJ33-5A engine. The new powerplant-formerly designated FJ33-19-will be installed in derated configuration for initial aircraft certification. Williams plans to release a higher-thrust-rating version of the FADEC-controlled FJ33-5A in the future. The D-JET originally flew with the Williams FJ33-15.
Pratt & Whitney Canada has been selected to supply the PW535D for the Hawker 450XP. The FADEC-controlled engine is rated at 3000 lb thrust.
Jet Aviation Basel has been selected to carry out the first 2 executive Airbus A350 completions. It is expected that completion work of the 2 aircraft will take about 18 months. Both aircraft, which will be delivered in 2014 and 2015, are for Asian customers.
Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has opened its latest facility at Bizjet TUL (Intl, Tulsa OK) to assist Airbus A318 Elite completion work. According to LHT, current demand for A318 completion work has outgrown the company's HAM (Intl, Hamburg, Germany) facility. The completion center at TUL will eventually be expanded to handle other aircraft in Lufthansa's completion portfolio. Chairman August Henningsen gives details during an Oct 5 press conference.

Jet Support Services has announced the appointment of Joe Hagin, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff, as its CEO. Hagin has also served at executive levels at Chiquita Brands and Federated Department Store.
FlightSafety Intl has promoted Diana Clasen to the role of mgr corporate communications. Previously, Clasen served as the company's product marketing manager at Cessna's Wichita Learning Center.
Jet Support Services has appointed Kelly Simmons as COO/CFO. Simmons was most recently pres and CFO of GlobalScape.
