Bahrain-based Rizon will expand its operations with the addition of an FBO at BQH (Biggin Hill, England). This $20-million facility will support clients of Rizon's executive jet service traveling to and from London. When complete, Rizon's operation at BQH will include 42,650 sq ft of hangar and ramp space and offer standard FBO amenities. Rizon also plans to build a $15-million 75-room hotel and restaurant. These will primarily support business jet crews, but will also be open to ad hoc visitors.
Preferred Jet Center has completed its renovation of the runway at RYY (Cobb County, Atlanta GA). Opening in December, the new concrete strip will be 25 ft wider than the original runway and will have new lighting. With the new runway, Preferred Jet Center hopes to elevate RYY from being considered the reliever airport for GA aircraft operating around Atlanta to being an airport better able to compete for bizjet traffic.
Oxfordjet has teamed with Oxford Air Services (OAS) to provide helicopter services from OXF (Kidlington, Oxford, England). Customers will be able to book flights with OAS through Oxfordjet's customer services. OAS offers shuttle flights to all major London airports and is capable of operating to mainland European destinations.
Renovations of Davis Flight Support's terminal have recently been completed as the FBO opens its newly remodeled 2Q3 (Davis CA) facility. Snooze rooms, showers and crew vehicles are featured as the latest additions for crews.
Key Air has expanded its operations into FPR (Fort Pierce FL) with the opening of a new maintenance and refurbishment facility at the airport. This facility also offers a full service FBO and 90,000 sq ft of ramp and hangar space.
Signature Flight Support will start accepting Avcard and World Fuel Services at its US locations. Exceptions are SFO (Intl, San Francisco CA) and DCA (National, Washington DC). The 2 discount fuel suppliers developed a comprehensive program for Signature. Customers will see little to no change in how they purchase fuel, since Avcard will be responsible for that aspect of transactions. This service will be offered at Signature BED (Bedford MA) and BOS (Logan, Boston MA) initially. Signature locations at HPN (White Plains NY), IAD (Dulles, Washington DC) and MIA (Intl, Miami FL) TEB (Teterboro NJ) will follow in offering this service.
Resort Aviation has recently completed a $1-million renovation of its terminal facility. The COE (Coeur d'Alene ID)-based FBO has remodeled its 2 executive areas, a conference room and kitchen. On the 2nd floor is a new pilot lounge as well.
AvFuel has added Destin Jet to its FBO network. The DTS (Destin FL) FBO is on track to open the doors of its new terminal in early 2009. This facility is intended to service the Florida panhandle. Owner Jay Odom says he wanted to establish high-end FBO service in the area.
Lancaster Airport Authority has completed the takeover of fuel services at LNS (Lancaster PA). Avfuel-branded LNS Alliance Aviation is now being managed by Airport Dir David Eberly. According to an Aug 12, 2008 Intelligencer Journal article, the airport authority deemed it necessary to take control of the FBO from former operator Airways after it failed to meet fuel demands of airport users.
Burlingame CA-based JetDirect Aviation, which maintains 3 full service FBOs at DAL (Love, Dallas TX), MQS (Coatesville PA) and SUS (Spirit of St Louis MO), has taken over TAG Aviation's aircraft management operations. This takeover means that JetDirect now operates the largest US charter fleet with about 175 of its 250-strong fleet available for charter operations. Initial purchase of TAG's aircraft management was first announced in Oct 22, 2007.
Jet Aviation has finished constructing a 35,520 sq ft expansion at its BSL (Basel, Switzerland) facility. This new hangar will house Jet Aviation's Dassault Falcon completion work for Europe. Together with the existing Hangar 1, the additional Hangar 1A will be capable of handling all of Jet Aviation's Dassault completion work.
ExcelAire has taken delivery of a Sikorsky S76 to be based at its ISP (Islip NY) location. This aircraft will allow customers a shuttle to New York and other locations along the east coast.
Peregrine Point has opened its doors for operation at AFW (Alliance, Forth Worth TX). The start-up FBO operates a Gulfstream G450 for executive charter and a Boeing 737-300C for either charter or cargo operations. The 737 is capable of carrying either 28 passengers in VIP, 48 in business class or 7 pallets of cargo.
West Star has taken over maintenance duties at ASE (Aspen CO). With its proximity to GJT (Grand Junction CO), West Star can share staff between the 2 locations as traffic and demand necessitate. The company has also completed the first successful aftermarket retrofit of a Kollsman EVS II camera on a Challenger 604. Later, the camera will be paired with the Kollsman AT-HUD.
AeroPremier Jet Center, based at NEW (Lakefront, New Orleans LA), has selected AvFuel service for its operation. The FBO is the first to return to business at NEW since the airport was closed due to damages inflicted by Hurricane Gustav. AeroPremier opened for operation in Aug 2008 and plans to open a second FBO at BBG (West Branson MO) in early 2009. Its NEW location is the only FBO in the New Orleans area to offer inhouse maintenance, wash and detailing facilities. It can service business jets up to larger midsize cabins like the Gulfstream V.
