BizJet Intl has reached an agreement to provide Air BP fuel from TUL (Intl, Tulsa OK). In addition to fuel, BizJet offers airframe and engine maintenance, avionics installations, interior refurbishment and exterior paint services. Following a Dec 2007 change in ownership, Lake Texoma Jet Center has switched to Avfuel. Based at GYI (Sherman–Denison TX), Lake Texoma is now run by Mgr of FBO Ops Steven Wayne and General Mgr Rick Wall. Amenities include a pilot lounge, snooze room, weather brief area and showers. The FBO—which is also a maintenance facility—offers quick turns of 15 minutes or less, courtesy and rental cars, hangar space and catering. Lake Texoma also participates in Avfuel’s contract fuel and Avtrip programs.

Signature ATH (Athens, Greece) assisted Pro Pilot in delivering and presenting a Sony Bravia HD television to Kostantinos Tsigkas, who won the top prize for survey respondents for 2006. Tsigkas is a captain for Antenna TV in Veilissia, Greece, mainly flying helicopters, including the Eurocopter BO105 and AS355N. Ross Aviation has purchased a majority ownership interest in 5 Bradley Pacific Aviation FBOs in Hawaii. As part of the deal, locations at HNL (Honolulu, Oahu HI), ITO (Hilo, Hawaii Island HI), KOA (Keahole–Kona, Hawaii Island HI), LIH (Lihue, Kauai HI) and OGG (Kahului, Maui HI) will retain the Bradley Pacific banner. Founders Bob Yosaitis and Tom Anusewicz will continue to hold key roles in Bradley Pacific, and Yosaitis retains an equity interest in the company. In addition, Mi Kosasa and Suzanne Olaso will continue their leadership roles in Bradley Pacific’s marketing and corporate aviation services departments. Bruce Pollack, managing partner of Centre Partners Management—which along with Jeff and Greg Ross formed Ross Aviation in 2004—says that Bradley Pacific plans to build a 40,000 sq ft hangar and FBO expansion at KOA.

ITO, KOA, LIH and OGG are all Air BP dealers. The 5 locations join Ross Aviation’s network of 12 FBOs, which also comprises Capital Aviation, Corporate Aircraft, Denver AirCenter, Great Circle Flight Services, Miami Executive Aviation, Santa Fe AirCenter and Scottsdale AirCenter.

SheltAir Aviation Services has acquired Liberty Air Ventures, an FBO under construction at SAV (Savannah GA). The purchase will raise the number of SheltAir locations to 12. Construction has started on an executive terminal and hangar complex at SAV, and SheltAir plans to begin offering FBO services in 1Q09.

Banyan Air Service’s avionics department has begun offering avionics work on large business aircraft. The FXE (Exec, Fort Lauderdale FL)-based FBO already offers installations and upgrades on Citation, King Air, Learjet and Pilatus aircraft, in addition to other midsize business jets. Banyan recently installed an entertainment system on a Gulfstream IVSP, an infrared EVS unit on a Dassault Falcon 900B and a TV/high-speed data package on a private Boeing 747SP.

Air BP has added 2 dealers to its network—Jet Source CRQ (Carlsbad CA) and Millville Jet Center MIV (Millville NJ). Both agreements include Air BP assisting with fuel distribution, marketing efforts and safety training programs. Jet Source CRQ features 120,000 sq ft of hangar space, 35,000 sq ft of office space, an executive terminal, conference room, and passenger and pilot lounges. Jet Source plans to open another facility—complete with an executive terminal and a pair of 35,000 sq ft hangars—at HND (Henderson, Las Vegas NV) in 2009. Millville Jet Center specializes in aircraft maintenance, structural repair, avionics, composites and nondestructive testing. The FBO also provides a “hot fueling” option for emergency aircraft, including refueling helicopters while the rotors are still running.

Avfuel has added Houma Jet Center to its network of branded dealers. Based at HUM (Houma LA), the FBO is enrolled in Avfuel’s contract fuel and Avtrip points programs, and is offering 20 bonus points for each gallon of gas purchased through May 31. Chief Pilot and Manager Lloyd Geist says that Houma has seen increased business in recent weeks due to the Avtrip program. The FBO plans to break ground soon on an 8000 sq ft executive terminal, and currently offers 28,000 sq ft of hangar space. Among the amenities and services provided by Houma are a conference room, pilot snooze room, wireless Internet, US customs clearance and quick turns.

Chevron Global Aviation has announced a free training course for employees of Chevron and Texaco-branded FBOs. Available in 2Q08, the 3-hour online course will cover fuel basics, safety, product testing, dealing with incidents, contamination, quality assurance, fuel storage and documentation for line service, operations and customer service personnel. Landmark Aviation has named Darrell Northern general manager of its facility at DAL (Love, Dallas TX). Northern was previously general manager of JetDirect Aviation, also at DAL.

Standard Aero has promoted Michael Moore to lead its DAL (Love, Dallas TX)-based subsidiary, Associated Air Center. He was previously VP of production, planning and supply chain for Associated, responsible for manufacturing, maintenance and planning. Moore holds an A&P license.

Duncan Aviation has named Shane Heier as turbine engine tech rep for the Honeywell line and Vince Cruickshank as Gulfstream inventory manager. Heier was formerly team leader of Duncan’s aviation engine line shop at LNK (Lincoln NE). Cruickshank has served in several roles in Duncan’s accessory shop, including team leader and crew leader, since joining the company in 1989.

DPA (DuPage, Chicago IL)-based JA Air Center has appointed Randy Fank as manager of FBO operations. He was formerly a director responsible for day-to-day operations at DPA. His new role includes oversight of JA’s existing FBO at ARR (Aurora IL) and at DKB (DeKalb IL), which will open later this year.

Stephen Woolstenhulme is the new president of 2 GYI (Sherman–Denison TX)-based operations—Lake Texoma Jet Center and Red River Turbines. His background includes stints with aviation-related companies, working with FBO services, contract fuel, aircraft maintenance, modification and sales, and engine repair and overhaul.
